“While we are excited to start getting back to our regular operations, we are also approaching this relaunch with a cautious optimism and will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation in Alberta to determine if we need to take a step back in any way,” said Ray Ralph, Mayor for the Town of Devon. "This has been a trying time for many of us and I am proud of our staff for maintaining the service expected of the Town by our residents throughout this pandemic.
Town Office Reopening
The Town of Devon Municipal Office will reopen on Monday, May 25 at 8:30 a.m. and it is expected to maintain regular hours going forward unless Alberta’s COVID-19 situation worsens.
Residents coming to the Town Office should expect a new experience as protective fixtures have been installed and new health and safety protocols implemented at reception and throughout the building.
Along with the reopening of the Town of Devon Office, Devon Council will be resuming their in-person Council Meetings at the Town Office starting May 25 at 7 p.m. the public is encouraged to attend.
Health and safety measures have been implemented to protect Town staff, members of Council and the public including a maximum occupancy of 15 people in Council Chambers at any time and ensuring there is proper space for physical distancing.
Playgrounds & Skate Park
Devon playgrounds and the skate park are also scheduled to reopen on Monday, May 25 as Town Parks staff have been out all week doing inspections to ensure the equipment is in working order.
While playgrounds may be open, please know that there is no way to guarantee they are safe for use from COVID-19 as playground structures are not cleaned or disinfected after each use.
If planning to use the playgrounds:
- Use at your own risk
- Stay home if you are sick or have any COVID-19 related symptoms
- Use the playground closest to your home
- Wash or sanitize hands before and after using playground equipment
- Leave toys and other play equipment at home
- Do your best to practice physical distancing from other playground users
- Use discretion – if a playground looks too crowded, come back later
- Limit the time you use the playground so other families can enjoy them with their children
The Town will continue to work with the Government of Alberta and Federal Government as they monitor the COVID-19 situation and will provide updates as restrictions are loosened or need to be reapplied to get through the pandemic.
