Event Volunteers - Successful events are not possible without the help of volunteers. Volunteers have fun, gain experience, develop skills, and meet new people.
Volunteer commitments vary in time from a few hours during an event to organizing a major event. Don't delay - sign up today!
Family & Community Support Services (FCSS) Volunteers - Do you have time to spare? Can you offer someone in need of assistance on a regular or even ad-hoc basis? We are looking for volunteers to sign-up to our FCSS Volunteer Bank. Even if you can only do one hour every so often, you may be able to help someone who desperately needs it for light yard work, and / or snow shovelling. This service is aimed at seniors, disabled, and temporary infirm residents of Devon.
Criminal Record Check Requirements
Volunteers for the lawn / snow busters are required to obtain a criminal record check. FCSS volunteers will be provided with a letter to take to the RCMP for a criminal record and vulnerable sector check (at no cost to you) and will be required to provide two pieces of ID; one must be a government-issued document with a photo. The check should take no more than 8-10 business days. Once the RCMP check is complete, drop-off the documentation to FCSS at the Town of Devon office, you wil get a brief program and safety orientation and then we will be able to pass your name on to people who make inquiries for help.
If you are unable or unwilling to get the criminal record check please do not volunteer for the lawn / snow busters, as we are unable to procede without it. Thank you for your understanding.
How It Works
All FCSS volunteers need to provide an active email for contact by the office. When a request for volunteers is received, an email would go out to all volunteers with their information, and whomever can help at that point would contact the person directly. All inquiries for help will be sent out by email to the entire FCSS Volunteer Bank and you choose whether to respond or not. It's that easy!
