2018 DESA Winners announced at Business Expo

Congratulations to Snippers Inc. & Hardy’s Your Independent Grocer

Winners of the third installment of the Devon Environmental Sustainability Awards (DESA) were announced this past weekend at the Devon Business Expo. Congratulations to Snippers Inc. for being selected as the first-place winner of this year’s award and to Hardy’s Your Independent Grocer for being selected as the runner up.

The DESA recognizes businesses for their commitment to environmentally friendly practices within their business.

“This was the third year running of this program and it has been fantastic seeing such an incredible variety of initiatives taken by local businesses,” said Andy Tchir, Environment & Sustainability Coordinator for the Town of Devon. “We encourage our local businesses to keep doing great things and to apply for the Devon Environmental Sustainability Award next year.”

1st Place: Snippers Inc.

  • Snippers Inc. is a hair salon and spa who divert waste from landfill, use energy efficient LED lighting and water efficient showerheads, and are part of the Green Circle Salon program.

2nd Place: Hardy’s Your Independent Grocer

  • Hardy’s Your Independent Grocer has taken on a variety of initiatives including energy efficient LED lighting upgrades, reducing food waste to landfill through donations and other means, and using a carboard bailer to effectively recycle.
