Day camps to launch in July and continue until mid-August

After weeks of planning, Devon’s Recreation department has prepared a modified plan for summer recreation that follows the Government of Alberta’s Stage 1 regulations for day camp safety.

Summer Day Camps

Summer day camps will begin running the second week of July and continue with different themes each week until mid-August. Each week will feature two separate 2-day camps for 3-5 yrs in the morning (9am-12pm) and 6-10 yrs in the afternoon (1-4pm) and the cost to register for each camp is only $15.

All camps will run outdoors next to the Devon Community Centre on Monday/Tuesday and Thursday/Friday and the cap has been set at a maximum of 8 kids per camp to follow the health and safety regulations from the province. Daily health reports will also be required for all participants planning to attend the camps and they will be facilitated by summer camp staff.

Summer Day Camp Registration

Registration for day camps will follow a staggered launch throughout summer with each week opening up for registration 4 weeks before they are scheduled to run and closing after 2 weeks.

Registration for the first camp scheduled for July 6 will open up on June 8 at devon.recdesk.com.

Questions about summer day camps can be emailed to scamps@devon.ca.

Virtual Summer Shack

Devon’s Summer Shack has adopted a virtual format for the year and will feature do-it-yourself craft tutorials starting June 2. Virtual Summer Shacks will continue to run on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the summer and a list of the crafts planned for each week along with supplies needed will be available at devon.ca/summer-shack.

The tutorials will be shared through the Town of Devon YouTube channel (DevonAlberta) and featured via the Town’s Instagram, Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Questions about Summer Shack can be emailed to summershack@devon.ca.
