The Ripple Affect has made its way to Devon. In mid- January, local community groups worked together to put up over 90 painted wooden wildlife cut-outs along the fence on Michigan Street near Miquelon Ave. in support of watershed education and the beautification of Devon’s open spaces.

The Ripple Affect Project was launched at Devon’s 2017 EPCOR RiverFest event where attendees learned about the importance of watersheds while painting the first batch of wildlife cut-outs that are now displayed on the fence. The goal of this project is to bring awareness to the community about the importance of protecting the North Saskatchewan River and the river valley while displaying some locally crafted public art for everyone to enjoy.

“There was enthusiastic support from all groups involved,” said Kristin Walsh, Manager of Parks, Recreation & Culture for the Town of Devon. “We plan to place a sign along with the painted wildlife cut-outs along the fence that will explain the purpose of this message and iterate the importance of doing our part to protect our watersheds.”

This project was spearheaded by the Town of Devon with support from a number of groups including the Devon Lions Club, the Devon Nature Club and the Lionettes.

Special recognition goes out to Devon’s Local Youth Experience, Happy Land Day Home and Busy Bee Day Home for their hard work helping to get all of the wildlife cut-outs painted and ready to go up.
