6184 Community Events BOAT LAUNCH PARKING UPDATE - May 17, 2021 We heard you Devon! Starting Tuesday, May 18, Devon residents & local businesses will be able to pick up a parking pass at the Town Office that will allow use of the boat launch parking lot at no charge for trucks with trailers. Paid parking for non-residents starts this Friday, May 21 at $10 per day and only applies at the boat launch parking lot. Smaller vehicles can park in the parking lot next to the boat launch lot or bike skills park at no charge. As the Town Office is currently closed to the public, please call us at 780-987-8300 when you arrive and a member of our staff will assist you with your parking pass. Alternatively, you can call our office at 780-987-8300 and we can make arrangements to have your pass mailed to you. Proof of residency is required and you will need to register your trailer license plate with the Town to obtain a pass. ------------------------------------------------------- ORIGINAL RELEASE (May 12, 2021) - Paid parking at Voyageur Park boat launch starts May 21 Starting Friday, May 21, boaters planning to launch their boat from Devon’s Voyageur Park boat launch will be required to pay a $10 per day fee to park their truck and trailer in the boat launch parking lot. Why is the Town switching the boat launch to paid parking? After a busy 2020 season in Voyageur Park, a number of improvements were recommended to improve parking controls and ensure the long-term viability of the boat launch area. The $10 per day parking fee applies only to the boat launch parking lot which is designed for trucks and trailers to park after launching their boats. This fee will ensure that space in the parking lot is reserved for those vehicles that require the space after launching their boat. Along with improving parking control, the new fee will also bring in new revenue that will go towards the upkeep of the boat launch with non-residents now contributing to these costs. “Last year, we saw more traffic down in our Voyageur Park than ever before,” said Ray Ralph, Mayor for the Town of Devon. “This new $10 per day fee at the boat launch parking lot will help ensure the lot is reserved for those looking to get on the water while also bringing in new revenue to go towards the costs of maintaining the launch and bringing improvements to Voyageur Park.” Parking fees will only apply at the boat launch parking lot.
