2059 Community Events A by-election will be held in early 2023 to fill the empty Council seat Chris Belke officially resigned from his position as councillor on the Devon Town Council on Friday, Oct. 21, 2022. His resignation took effect immediately. Belke’s resignation was taken to Town Council on Oct. 24, 2022, to publicly announce his stepping down as per the requirements of the Municipal Government Act. In his letter submitted to the Town of Devon’s Chief Administrative Officer, Paul Benedetto, former Councillor Belke stated that he has recently taken on a new employment position and that the demands of the new position conflict with the demands of being on Council. “Because of this conflict, I do not feel that I can adequately represent the interests of the residents and businesses of Devon in the carrying out of Council’s business on behalf of the Town,” read the letter from Belke. The Town of Devon thanks former Councillor Belke for his service and dedication to the Town throughout the years. Town Council respects his decision to step down and wishes him all the best in his new employment position. 2023 by-election There will be a by-election held in early 2023 to fill the vacant Town of Devon Council position.
