2931 Community Events 2021 Utility Budget will see zero increases to utility costs Devon Council has approved the 2021 Utility Budget at their Oct. 26, 2020 Council Meeting with zero increases to all Town-owned utilities including natural gas, water, wastewater, solid waste and recycling and bulk water rates. The Town of Devon’s utilities are all self-supporting, which means the revenue generated by the utilities covers the cost of administering them. No Town-owned utilities are supported by taxes collected by the municipality. “Administration has worked hard to maintain costs and we’re extremely proud that even amidst the challenges and uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are able to deliver zero utility rate increases for the third year in a row,” said Ray Ralph, Mayor for the Town of Devon. “We are very fortunate to own our natural gas and water utilities here in Devon as it gives us additional options that other municipalities don’t have to keep utility costs down for our residents.” Natural Gas Utility The natural gas rate for 2021 will remain at $35 base rate per month and $1.57/GJ. Water Utility The water rate for 2021 will remain at $13.46 basic charge per month and $1.55/m3 for consumption. Wastewater Utility The wastewater rate for 2021 will remain at $33.60 basic charge per month and $1.76/m3 for consumption. Solid Waste & Recycling The charge for curbside solid waste, organics and blue bag pickup will remain at $30 per month in 2021. Bulk Water Station Rates Devon’s Bulk Water Station rates will remain $4.75/m3 in 2021. -30- For more information contact: Justin Janke Communications Coordinator Town of Devon P: 780-987-8302 E: JJanke@devon.ca Share Print
