Town of Devon Council has passed the 2018 Tax Rate Bylaw at their May 28, 2018 Council Meeting with an overall property tax increase of 2.57 per cent.

Included in this increase are the Leduc Foundation requisition and the education taxes collected on behalf of the province. The Provincial Education Requisition for Devon’s residential homeowner has increased by 2.0 per cent over 2017 while non-residential has increased by 1.03 per cent.

“On December 11, 2017, Council approved the 2018 Operating Budget with a tax requirement increase of 1.59 per cent, that was based on the property assessments at that time. When the 2018 Tax Rate Bylaw was approved on May 28, 2018, it was based on the current property assessments, which had decreased by 0.19 per cent," said Mayor Ralph. "To account for the shortfall in the tax requirement, the tax rate had to be increased to 2.83 percent. Council is pleased that this increase was significantly lower than the 3.99 per cent increase in 2017.”

Property taxes are calculated based on assessment values as of July 1, 2017, which means properties throughout Devon will be affected differently.

Tax notices will be mailed out to residential and non-residential property owners on May 31, 2018. Payment is due on or before June 30 and can be made:
