Devon Town Council unveiled their top strategic priorities at the Nov. 14 Council Meeting. These priorities will be the main focus of Council and Administration moving forward throughout 2017-2018.

Council identified five immediate priorities that they would like to begin addressing throughout the next year. These include:

  1. Policing Services Review – A review of Devon’s policing service.
  2. Recreation Complex Business Case – A review of a business case for a recreation complex.
  3. Land Development Options – Looking into options to develop land in and around Devon.
  4. Public Communication: Enhanced Tools – Exploring options for improving communication between the Town and its residents and stakeholders.
  5. Economic Development Action Plan – Furthering the Economic Development Strategy created in 2015 by adding an action plan that identifies opportunities to support, strengthen and enhance Devon’s business community.

Other priorities to be looked at over a longer term include:

  • Devon’s Long Term Capital Plan
  • An Industrial Land Strategy
  • Waste to energy options for the Town
  • A review of Devon’s social programs
  • Devon’s Central Park and additional sports fields around the Town
  • A review of Parks and Recreation facilities priorities
  • A review of Devon’s Downtown Vitalization Plan
  • Continued work with Devon’s municipal partners

“Now that Council has set strategic priorities, we can start working towards accomplishing them one by one,” said Tony Kulbisky, Chief Administrative Officer for the Town of Devon. “These are a great starting point for our Council to show that they have listened to our community and are ready do their part to get things done as we move into 2018,” said Ray Ralph, Mayor for the Town of Devon.

As each immediate priority is met and satisfied, the longer term priorities will move up the list to be addressed. Town Council reviews their strategic priorities each year to determine if they need to be reassessed or changed in response to the needs of the Town and the Devon community.
