3023 Community Events Starting in September 2020, Leduc & District Victim services will be working out of the Devon RCMP Detachment the second Tuesday of the month between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. and out of the Breton RCMP Detachment every second and fourth Wednesday of the month between the hours of 9:45 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to support victims of crime. It is an opportunity to bring awareness to the community as to how the RCMP in partnership with Victim Services can assist victims of crime. “Victim Services is an integral part of policing. When police are dealing with the legal side, Victim Services provides the soft touch, the human side while assisting victims through a variety of processes”, says Constable Cheri-Lee Smith. Leduc & District Victim Services is an organization of individuals that make every effort to ensure victims are not left alone to face overwhelming circumstances. Victims Services work alongside the RCMP in the Devon and Breton Detachments and they start working to provide support as soon as the victim is referred. “Once police provide us with a victim referral, we provide them with services such as victim impact statements, financial benefits, restitution and other resources that may benefit the victim such as counselling, “says Stephanie Ricci, Executive Director with Leduc & District Victim Services.
