4228 Community Events Business community growing with the addition of 1960 Lumber and Hardware Company The Town of Devon has been working hard on a strategy to attract new business and residents to the community over the past few years. With the acquisition of land west of Highway 60 and relocating the Field of Dreams ball diamonds this winter, it opens up many development opportunities for Devon. “It takes time to build relationships and gain the exposure needed to move the pendulum”, said Patricia Nicol, Economic Development Officer for the Town of Devon. Co-owners Blair Metrunec and Rommel Lapak announced plans on July 23, 2020, to move their current location in Calmar to Devon by early 2021, under a new company name, 1960 Lumber and Hardware Company, which will be located on the corner of Highway 19 and Highway 60. Blair stated, “The move was necessary for the growth of our business, and Devon was a natural fit. Town staff have gone the extra mile working with us every step of the way, helping us develop our plans”. Devon Council is thrilled to have the addition of this much needed new business to our community. “We’ve been waiting for the first domino to fall for some time, which is now happening with the arrival of 1960 Lumber and Hardware, and we are confident we’ll see the rest will fall into place”, said Mayor, Ray Ralph. 1960 Lumber and Hardware Company, currently operating as Hayduk Lumber in Calmar, has been in operation for over 10 years, bringing a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the building materials industry. They are a proud TimberMart dealer, and offer recognized brands like All Weather Windows, Cloverdale Paint, and most recently added Milwaukee power tools and accessories to their product line. The new 15,000 sq ft building centre will offer everything you need to complete your projects, big or small, delivered to your door - all under one roof. Share Print
