3026 Community Events Residents invited to see vision for land development west of HWY 60 The Devon & District Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Town Hall Meeting at the Devon Community Centre from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 7 and all Devon residents and businesses are invited to come out and learn about Council’s vision for developing the land west of HWY 60 into a future commercial hub and how it will impact the future of Devon. In 2017, the Town of Devon jointly purchased land with Alberta Transportation west of HWY 60 across from Southport Common. To spark the quick absorption and development of this land and open the door to future commercial development in this area, Council is considering the construction of a new multi-purpose recreation facility to act as a catalyst for development. The Nov. 7 Town Hall Meeting will be moderated by the Devon & District Chamber of Commerce and focus on providing residents and stakeholders with information about the proposed land and facility development plus answer any additional questions that may arise. “Growth has been a challenge for Devon over the years and our business community has suffered,” said John Fairhead, President of the Devon & District Chamber of Commerce. “Developing this land west of HWY 60 is a great first step towards strengthening our business community and positioning the Town for future commercial development.” After the Town Hall Meeting, all Devon residents are invited to complete a survey through a unique PIN code that will be sent out in the Town’s November utility bills. Residents without internet access will still be able to participate through a telephone interview process with instructions provided on their utility bill insert. More information about the Town’s plans for developing the land west of HWY 60 is available at devon.ca/westof60 including a Q & A Report with answers to the over 180+ questions asked at the Sept. 19 Open House. -30- For more information contact: John Fairhead President Devon & District Chamber of Commerce P: 780-987-5177 E: JFairhead@devon.ca Justin Janke Communications Coordinator Town of Devon P: 780-987-8302 E: JJanke@devon.ca Share Print
