At Christmas, there are many individuals who cannot afford to purchase themselves the items for a Christmas dinner and many of them are also isolated, and cannot get out to communal lunches that may also be offered around the region. $15 donation will help buy a full Christmas dinner and dessert for one Devon resident. This is a chance for individuals to help out in a personal way. We continue to encourage larger donations to be directed the Devon Christmas Elves or the Leduc Food Bank, both of whom support Devon residents. “Please accept… my sincere appreciation for the Christmas dinner… I couldn’t afford a turkey, therefore I am thankful for the delivery. Living alone with no visitors at Christmas is very lonely, the dinner made my day! Thank you for your kindness”. Where your donation will go... Devon residents only. Low income single adults or low income single / couple seniors who register for the program. As in previous years the food will be cooked fresh by a caterer, frozen and delivered to their doorstep, while following health and safety protocols. Once all donations are in, we will open the registration to our Devon residents to match your donation to their request. How to donate... In person at the Town Office or online at devon.recdesk.com by November 25 Where there is a shortfall, we are unable to run the program or there is a surplus. the donations will go to the Families in Need Crisis Fund to be used for food gift cards year-round. Register for a Dinner (Nov 28-Dec 14 only) From November 28 to December 14, low income Devon residents can confidentially request a Christmas meal to be delivered direct to their doorstep on Wednesday, December 22. If you are nominating someone, please make sure that they are able to be home on that day. We will call all nominees ahead of time to let them know they have been nominated (without revealing the source). This is open to low income single adults and low income single and couple seniors. Low income singles must not get more than $35k per year and low income senior couples (65+) must not get more than $45k per year. This can be done via email at FCSS@devon.ca or phone 780-987-8325.
