2719 Community Events Win a $200 gift card by connecting with your friends, family and neighbors Devon Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) is proud to launch its new 28-Day Connection Challenge starting Nov. 1 and running until Nov. 30. The new challenge aims to encourage Devon families and individuals to spend quality time together in a variety of ways, while maintaining safe practices. Challengers will be required to take a minimum of 30 minutes out of their day for 28 days to connect with at least one other person daily and, once complete, return a form to be entered to win a $200 gift card. And to make it as easy as possible to participate, we have chosen activities that residents are likely already doing - we just ask that you do it mindfully (connect on purpose). “We are always looking for ways to encourage families and individuals to connect with each other and reach out, especially now with the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions keeping some people isolated and at risk of loneliness,” said Ki Wilson, FCSS Coordinator for the Town of Devon. “We are hoping that the multiple options for how to complete the challenge will help people participate and include others who may need extra connection at this time. The small things can make a big difference.” The Challenge The challenge can be in done three ways: sitting down together to eat and talk, game playing, or a check-in chat to see how someone is doing, see if they need anything or perhaps an arrangement to meet if possible. This challenge is designed as a tool to help you check in on each other; those in your home and other, family, friends or neighbors – you never know who may need that quick call or connection. Don't live or cohort together but still want to join in? Get creative - play charades, Pictionary. Do you have a pack of cards? A chess set, Snakes and Ladders? Set them games up in your own homes, get out your laptop, phone and put each other on FaceTime, Messenger etc. and you can move each other’s pieces around.
