3948 Community Events New firefighters to provide daytime coverage and fire safety education The Town of Devon’s Fire Services department received a welcome addition this week with the hiring of two full-time firefighters, Captain John Hay and Firefighter Shawn Bartoshewski. The new full-time firefighters will offer daytime coverage for the Town and assist with fire prevention and education for Devon residents. “Improving the Town’s Protective Services was a top priority of Council as we entered 2019,” said Ray Ralph, Mayor for the Town of Devon. “Emergency preparedness is so important and with the addition of these two new firefighter positions, we are much better equipped for any emergency situation.” Council has also committed to the addition of a RCMP member in 2019 and is expecting to have this filled by the end of summer. “We had many qualified applicants for our first full-time firefighter positions with the Town,” said Rob Main, Fire Chief for the Town of Devon. “After a long process, both Mr. Hay and Mr. Bartoshewski proved that they would make the best additions to our department to provide daytime fire coverage and education to our residents.” Both firefighters will have their first day with the Town on July 2. -30- For more information contact: Justin Janke Communications Coordinator Town of Devon P: 780-987-8302 E: JJanke@devon.ca Rob Main Fire Chief Town of Devon P: 780-987-3718 E: FChief@devon.ca Share Print
