1800 Community Events Survey asks residents to share thoughts regarding impacts of climate change. The Town of Devon is in the process of developing a Climate Adaptation Plan for the community. The plan will prioritize the most significant climate impacts facing our community and ensure we implement cost-effective actions to manage priority impacts. To obtain critical information to inform the climate change risk assessment process, the Town has partnered with All One Sky, a not-for-profit, charitable organization, to conduct a Climate Adaptation Survey. Projected climate changes for our community include: Hotter temperatures with more frequent and intense heat waves and hot weather Warmer winters with fewer cold days, and less predictable ice and snow conditions Drier summer conditions with increased risk of drought and wildfires More extreme weather and storms including heavy rainfall, strong winds, hail, and lightning A longer frost-free season which may extend summer recreation and agricultural opportunities but will have implications for local ecosystems and wildlife The survey itself is anonymous and the answers will be instrumental in shaping the future adaptive capacity of the Town and its resilience to climate change. To help incentivize uptake in the responses, completing the survey will give the individuals an opportunity to be entered to win a $50 pre-paid Visa gift card if they chose (email must be provided to be eligible).
