3748 Community Events The Town of Devon is proud to launch the second year of its Devon Environmental Sustainability Awards (DESA) which recognizes local businesses that are making an environmental impact in the Devon community. This environmental impact can be something as simple as coordinating a recycling program within your office or any other environmental initiative that you or your business is proud of. In order to be eligible for a DESA, businesses must have less than 100 employees, have been in business for over 12 months, have a registered business license with the Town of Devon and be located in Devon. “Last year we had a number of businesses with some great environmental initiatives apply for the award,” said Andy Tchir, environmental and sustainability coordinator for the Town of Devon. “This year we hope to see more initiatives that benefit both the businesses and our environment.” The first place winner of the DESA will receive a $1,500 cash prize, a DESA plaque to display at their business, media recognition and be nominated by the Town of Devon for an Alberta Emerald Award. Second Place will receive a $1,000 cash prize, a DESA certificate for their business and media recognition. Runner ups will also be featured on the Devon website’s business section with their sustainability initiatives. To apply, nominate a business or learn more about the Devon Environmental Sustainability Awards, go to www.devon.ca/DESA. The application deadline is September 22, 2017. We look forward to seeing many more great entries this year! -30- For more information contact: Andy Tchir Environmental and Sustainability Coordinator Town of Devon P: 780-987-8333 E: ATchir@devon.ca Justin Janke Communications Coordinator Town of Devon P: 780-987-8302 E: JJanke@devon.ca Share Print
