7438 Community Events Community Peace Officers to revisit time zones for schools and playgrounds The Town of Devon is in the process of reviewing its Traffic Safety Bylaw and is looking for feedback from the public to help ensure the Bylaw still reflects the needs of the Devon community. One major area of focus in the update is a review of the Town’s school and playground zones to determine if the current times set by the province apply for Devon or can be better adjusted to better suit the Town’s needs. The Traffic Safety Bylaw was last updated in 2017. Currently, the province has school zones in effect from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and playground zones in effect from 8:30 a.m. to one hour after sunset. “Traffic is a large part of our job protecting Devonians and our Traffic Safety Bylaw equips us with the means to enforce traffic and ensure we are doing our part to keep Devon’s streets safe,” said Sergeant Perry, Community Peace Officer for the Town of Devon. “Through this survey, we hope that parents, school employees and commuters alike will share their feedback and help inform the update of our Bylaw before it goes back to Council for approval.” Survey To assist Devon’s Community Peace Officers with updating the Bylaw, the Town is asking residents to complete a short survey to determine the best times each zone should be in effect. The survey is available at surveymonkey.com/r/schoolzones and will run from July 6 to July 27. -30- For more information contact: Justin Janke Communications Coordinator Town of Devon P: 780-987-8302 E: JJanke@devon.ca Sgt.
