3009 Community Events Youth-focused program aims to reward positive and safe behaviours Devon’s Peace Officers have restarted the Positive Ticketing Program in Devon. The Positive Ticketing Program focuses on promoting safe behaviours in Devon’s youth by rewarding positive and safe behaviour. Devon’s Community Peace Officers will be giving out vouchers for treats from various local businesses when they witness positive behavior being displayed in the community. Examples of positive and safe behaviours that may be rewarded include: Wearing a helmet while riding a bike Walking a bike across crosswalks Looking both ways for traffic before crossing a street “We believe that a Community Peace Officer’s role is more than just going around and writing tickets to those that haven’t followed the law,” said Thomas Perry, Community Peace Officer for the Town of Devon. “This positive ticketing program is a great way for us to get out into the community and show the youth of Devon that acting safe, whether it is as small as wearing your helmet, is noticed by law enforcement and that we are proud of them for acting safely.” Keep your eyes out for Officer Perry and Officer Loov in the community and if you are being safe, not only will it potentially save your life, it may just earn you some sweets for the summer! -30- For more information contact: Thomas Perry Community Peace Officer Town of Devon P: 780-987-3440 E: PeaceOfficer@devon.ca Justin Janke Communications Coordinator Town of Devon P: 780-987-8302 E: JJanke@devon.ca Share Print
