18 Community Events RCMP would like to remind residents of important safety considerations as we adjust to Daylight Saving Time on Mar. 9, 2025. The time change can affect visibility on the roads, home security, and overall awareness, making it a good opportunity to review important safety measures. Devon RCMP recommend the following spring safety tips: Use the time change as a reminder to check that your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors are functioning properly and replace batteries if needed. These devices play a critical role in home safety. With sunrise and sunset occurring at different times, visibility on the roads will be affected. Drivers should be extra cautious, particularly during the first week of the time change. Changing daylight hours can make it more difficult to see pedestrians and cyclists, especially in the early morning and late afternoon. Drivers should remain alert, and pedestrians should ensure they are visible to traffic. As daylight hours increase and outdoor activities become more frequent, remember to lock doors and windows when leaving your home, as well as securing your vehicle even when it is parked in your driveway or garage. Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activity to police. Your awareness and cooperation contribute to a safer community for everyone.
