Awards recognizes Devon businesses going the extra mile for the environment

Devon, AB. – The Town of Devon is proud to launch the fourth year of its Devon Environmental Sustainability Awards (DESA) which recognizes local businesses that are making a positive environmental impact in the Devon community.

Whether it’s using biodegradable products or switching to LED lighting to conserve energy, the awards recognize all environmental initiatives currently being done by Devon businesses.

To be eligible to win a DESA, businesses must be located within Devon, have less than 100 employees, have been in business for over 12 months and have a registered business license with the Town.

“Our Council fully supports developing strategies and initiatives to encourage our residents and businesses to go the extra mile to help us create a sustainable community,” said Ray Ralph, Mayor for the Town of Devon. “Showcasing what different businesses are contributing to environmental sustainability is not only educational, but also encourages other businesses to follow in their footsteps."

DESA Prizes

  • First place will receive a $1,500 cash prize, a DESA plaque to display at their business, media recognition and nomination by the Town of Devon for an Alberta Emerald Award
  • Second Place will receive a $1,000 cash prize, a DESA certificate for their business and media recognition
  • Runner ups will have their sustainability initiatives featured on the Town of Devon website
