Residents encouraged to continue sorting properly to keep carts clean and costs low

To support residents in sorting smart and to help prevent cart and truck contamination, green cart inspections in Devon will be happening the week of July 12-15.

While most residents do a great job of sorting correctly, some still put plastics in their green cart. This contaminates entire truckloads of organics that then need to be landfilled at a higher cost, rather than repurposed into valuable compost.

During green cart inspections, contaminated green carts will not be collected, and residents will be informed of the specific issue with an information tag left on the cart.

GFL, the Town’s contractor, conducts green cart inspections. They can be identified by their bright green shirts.
