4475 Community Events At the Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators (CAMA) annual general meeting held on May 30, 2017, Tony Kulbisky, Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for the Town of Devon, AB was elected to the CAMA board of directors. He replaces Marc Landry, former CAO for the Town of Beaumont, AB who is now City Manager for the City of Moncton, NB. “I am pleased to welcome Mr. Kulbisky to our board of directors,” said Janice Baker, incoming president of CAMA, and City Manager for Mississauga, ON. "He has served on several CAMA advisory committees, has considerable experience on the Local Government Administrative Association board of directors, and will be a welcome addition to our national board.” Mr. Kulbisky joined the Town of Devon in 2009 as the Town’s CAO. Prior to his position with Devon, he served as the CAO for the Town of Hardisty, AB from 2005 – 2009 and the Director, Community Services for Woodlands County, AB from 2000 – 2005. Before his municipal service time in Alberta, he spent eight years in the public service of the Northwest Territories. “I am very excited to be the next representative for Alberta on the CAMA board of directors,” said Mr. Kulbisky. “I have been a proud and active member of CAMA for the past nine years and look forward to serving on the national board in support of CAMA’s initiatives and advocacy efforts to the profession across Canada.” Mr. Kulbisky’s educational background includes a BA from the University of Alberta and a number of certificates including a Municipal Management and Leadership Certificate and National Advanced Certificate in Local Authority Administration. Along with his administrative service, he has also served his community as a volunteer firefighter with Whitecourt, Hardisty and Devon for over 15 years. Throughout his career, Mr. Kulbisky has always done his part to better his community. From 2009 – 2011 he served on the Local Government Administrative Association (LGAA) Board as Director, becoming Vice President in 2011 and serving as President from 2013 – 2016. He now sits as Past-President on the LGAA Board. Some of Mr. Kulbisky’s major accomplishments throughout his career include winning the prestigious 2016 Society of Local Government Managers of Alberta “Award of Excellence”, earning the Red Deer College “Distinguished Alumnus Award” in 2005, the Alberta Centennial Medal in 2005, the Alberta Emergency Services Medal in 2012, and the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012.
