3473 Community Events CEIP to provide residents with new way to finance clean energy upgrades The Town of Devon is proud to launch the Clean Energy Improvement Program (CEIP) in Devon with Pre-Qualification Applications open starting Jan. 20, 2022. Administered by the Alberta Municipal Services Corporation (AMSC), CEIP provides residential property owners with a new way to finance up to 100 per cent of the cost of energy efficiency upgrades or renewable energy installations. Repayment is conveniently made through the property owner’s municipal property taxes. This type of financing is tied to the property, not the property owner and if the property is sold, the new owner assumes repayment (and enjoys the benefits!). Eligible residential upgrade categories include: Heating, ventilation & air conditioning Renewable energy, solar PV & thermal Lighting fixtures and controls Water heating Doors, windows, insulation & air sealing How does the Clean Energy Improvement Program work exactly? The Clean Energy Improvement Program works in five main steps. Pre-Qualify – Complete and submit the Pre-Qualification Form. Project Application – Once pre-qualified, you will complete your EnerGuide Home Evaluation, choose your upgrades, select a Qualified Contractor (from myCEIP.ca), and submit the Project Application Form. Agreements – Once your Project Application is approved, sign the required program agreements (Clean Energy Improvement Agreement and Project Agreement). Installation – After the agreements are signed, your Qualified Contractor will install your upgrades. Once installed, you will complete and submit an Upgrade Completion Form. Repayment – Once your upgrade is verified, we will pay your Qualified Contractor. You’ll see the total project cost added to your property’s tax bill where you will pay it back over time. After all your upgrades are installed, you must complete a post project EnerGuide Home Evaluation. "Our Administration team has been diligently working to bring CEIP to Devon and we are all very excited to see it available to our residents looking for new and affordable ways to make energy efficiency upgrades or renewable energy installations to their homes,” said Mayor Craddock. “This is a great program and with applications now open, we expect to see several submitted quickly so projects can begin in the spring.” "We are thrilled to support the Town of Devon and their Clean Energy Improvement Program.
