Travellers returning home to Devon must stay in their homes for 14 days

As of Mar. 25, 2020, the Government of Alberta has issued a public health order that travellers returning to Canada are legally required to self-isolate for 14 days and monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 including: cough, fever, shortness of breath, nasal congestion or sore throat.

This requirement also applies to those who have been in close contact with any individual with COVID-19 symptoms or a confirmed case of COVID-19.

“If you are returning to Devon from outside of Canada you must head straight home and self-isolate for the mandated 14 days to ensure there is no chance to pass on the COVID-19 virus,”said Ray Ralph, Mayor for the Town of Devon. “Our Town of Devon staff, along with the Devon Lions Club and a number of our churches have put supports in place to help put groceries on the table so you can have what you need to isolate for the full two weeks.”

Those that do not comply with the order may be subject to fines of $1,000 per occurrence and courts have been empowered to hand out substantial fines for more serious violations.
