Their first step is to focus on single-use disposable items such as plastic bags, straws, coffee cups and take-out containers. “Reducing waste has become a huge issue in our region, especially since the changes to global recycling that have started earlier this year,” said Ray Ralph, Mayor for the Town of Devon. “Our Council is committed to exploring new and innovative ways to reduce Devon’s waste and looks forward to working with our community to create a more sustainable future for our Devon.” Get Involved – Waste Reduction Task Force The next step in the Town’s strategy to reduce waste is to create a Waste Reduction Task Force that will be comprised of one Devon Councillor, one member of the Town’s Administration and five Devon residents with varying backgrounds who would like to make a difference in their community. Applications for the Task Force will be available starting June 12 at the presentation and will be accepted until July 15. All applications will go to Council for their consideration and the Task Force will be appointed in mid-August.
