On behalf of Town of Devon Council and the Devon community, Mayor Ray Ralph issued the following statement on the passing of His Royal Highness, Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh.

"We would like to offer our deepest condolences to her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth II and all members of the Royal Family as they mourn the loss of His Royal Highess Prince Philip.

Prince Philip spent his life in the service of others. He was a decorated naval officer with ties to the Canadian Armed Forces as an honorary general of the Canadian Army and Royal Canadian Air Force, as well as an honorary admiral of the Royal Canadian Navy.

Prince Philip lived a full life and we thank him for his philanthropy and service over his many years as companion to our Queen."

The Town's flags will remain at half-mast as a sign of respect and mourning for the passing of Prince Philip.

Condolences

The Government of Alberta has published a Memorial page and virtual Condolences Book  as a way for people to share messages of sympathy and condolences with the Royal Family.
