3644 Community Events Contest invites artists to submit original design for Orange Shirt Day The Town of Devon is proud to launch its 2022 Orange Shirt Day Design Contest starting Mar. 9 and running until May 2. This contest invites Devon and area artists to show their commitment to reconciliation by creating an original design to be featured on this year’s orange shirts in Devon. Design Contest Rules The contest is open to all Devon residents. Artwork must be the individuals original design, only in black and must be suitable for imprinting on a t-shirt. Artwork can be dropped off at the Town Office or submitted via email as a high-quality PNG or JPEG file. If dropping off, please ensure the image is drawn on 8.5” x 11” paper/cardstock. Only one submission per person. Entries must be complete and submitted with the forms provided to Mitch Wincentaylo, Indigenous Engagement & Cultural Inclusion Coordinator for the Town of Devon at MWincentaylo@devon.ca. The deadline to submit a design is the end of the day on Monday, May 2, 2022. The winning entry will be chosen via a community poll on the Town of Devon website/social media pages and will become the design for the 2022 orange shirt. The winner will also receive a prize courtesy of the Town Devon and its partner organizations. “Our 2022 Orange Shirt Day Design Contest is a great way to involve our community in reconciliation and showcase Devon’s commitment to Indigenous Peoples and communities,” said Deputy Mayor Tanya Hugh. “This will provide residents an opportunity to creatively show their support for those impacted by the residential school system through their art while being proud to be an ally to Indigenous Peoples.” For more information, or to download the Orange Shirt Design Contest application package, go to devon.ca/orangeshirtday.
