Council Remuneration

In accordance with Policy 1303 - Elected Official Remuneration and Compensation, compensation and benefits provided to Town Council are reviewed every term of council.

Definitions

Honorarium - monthly compensation for all activities which are not eligible for per diems.
Per diem - pay for time spent doing certain activities not covered by the honorarium.
Expenses - incurred while on Town business such as food, accommodation, travel.

Honorariums

Position	Remuneration
Mayor	$3,962 per month - $47,544 per year
Deputy Mayor	$2,399.15 per month (Councillors each serve as Deputy Mayor for 8 months)
Councillor	$2,091 per month - $25,092 per year

Per Diems

A per diem rate or activity and time based salary shall be paid to all members of Council for time spent doing certain activities not covered by the honorarium. These activities shall be compensated for upon submission and approval of an expense claim and completion of the activities. The Mayor shall be responsible for approving councilors' claims and the Deputy Mayor responsible for approving the Mayor's claims. See Policy 1303 for full info on per diems.

Per Diem Rates

Activities under 2 hours - $52.25
Activities between 2 hours and up to (but not including) 4 hours - $104.50
Activities between 4 hours and up to (but not including) 6 hours - $156.75
Activities 6 hours and over, including multiple activities - $209 per day maximum

Council Activity Reports will be uploaded by the end of the third week of the month.

On each Councillor Activity Report, Councillors report which Board/Committee meetings they have attended on behalf of Council over the previous month.
