For July 1st, the Town of Devon issues this statement:
Coming up to 154 years, Canada has celebrated July 1st as a National holiday, the creation of the Dominion of Canada known as Canada Day. We acknowledge that the celebration of the dominion as a Crown-entity is also a celebration rooted in colonialism. We acknowledge the First Peoples who come from the land that we currently call Canada, and we acknowledge the atrocities that have been caused as a direct result of colonial policy, and church and state institutions.
